Isthmus Magazine Cover Project

This project for my publications class was to create a poster for the December issue of the Isthmus magazine.  I opted to go for a jazz themed cover that highlighted the warmth that jazz can provide in the cold weather.

I first created a moodboard for this project using some jazz album covers and a color palate. I wanted to go for a more organic look, so I used hand drawn imagery as the feature of my cover.

Then, in order to achieve the contrast between the warmth and coolness, I colored the jazz musicians using warm tones and created a gradient around them using cooler blues.
