Michelangelo's Mobile App Prototype
This was a project for my UX Design class in which we worked in teams of 4 to design a mobile app prototype for Michelangelo's Coffee House that would allow customers to make mobile orders and earn rewards.
Our design journey followed a 6 step process. First, we analyzed competitors' websites to see what had already been done, and what could be applied to Michelangelo's. Then, we created interview questions to guide research with potential customers. Next, we created personas of potential returning customers, and to end the prep phase, we gave them journey maps that defined struggles they may have when visiting Michelangelo's.
To begin the design phase, we first sketched out our ideas and created wireframes using Figma to brainstorm ideas on how we could design our app most optimally. Next, we assembled our wireframes into a polished app prototype, and used Figma to connect them in an interactive prototype, which I have included a link to below:
This project was super beneficial to me as a designer for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it gave me a ton of experience working in a team of designers, and learning how to delegate work rather than everyone wasting time doing the same thing. I hadn't had much experience like this before, so I felt like it increased my capabilities quite a bit.
I also got a better taste of what UX is about. I hadn't known much about it and assumed it was very similar to graphic design, so I was suprised at the amount of research and knowledge of psychology it takes to be a good UX designer. These are areas that I still have some improvement needed in, but am eager to develop!
As a bonus, I started to learn the ins and outs of Figma, which I had only really used on a super base level previously. Turns out it is a very helpful and intuitive program, especially for teams of designers who do some of their work remote!
